What are the referral criteria for patients?

Primary care Oral Surgery, Intravenous Sedation and Inhalation Sedation Provider

Intravenous sedation:
BMI 18-35
Age 17-70
Single quadrant to relieve pain and stabilisation
Relative analgesia:
Age: 5+
Single quadrant to relieve pain and stabilisation
MOS:
Tier 1 without sedation
Tier 1 with sedation
Single quadrant to relieve pain and stabilisation
Restorative:
Simple with sedation
Extraction:
simple with sedation

What are the main reasons for rejecting patients?

Intravenous sedation:
ASA 3 and above
Multiple quadrants
BMI less than 18 or above 35
Age less than 17 and above 70
Complex medical history where IV sedation is contraindicated in primary care
Complex MOS
RA:
Age less than 5
Complex medical history where RA sedation is contraindicated in primary care
Complex MOS
We do not take referrals for routine dental care without sedation
 

Who can use the service?

We are a primary care referral centre for IV, RA, MOS and we are a foundation training practice situated in the centre of South Shields next to the bus and metro interchange
