Patients are eligible for NHS orthodontic assessment where:
– They are under 18 years of age at the point of referral (unless specific commissioned criteria apply).
– They have a clear orthodontic treatment need that meets the required NHS threshold.
– The referral includes sufficient clinical information to allow appropriate assessment.
– The patient is registered with a referring NHS dental practice.
– The patient is willing and able to comply with orthodontic treatment requirements, including maintaining good oral hygiene and attending appointments.
Referrals will be assessed by the orthodontic team. Acceptance for NHS treatment is determined following an orthodontic assessment and confirmation that the patient meets NHS commissioning criteria.
